Biography

Kathryn is one of the busiest musical theatre choreographers in Southwest Michigan, having choreographed over 200 productions in the last 39 years, including the Civic's hit holiday productions Mary Poppinsand A Christmas Story the Musical. Kathryn has been a part-time instructor in Western Michigan University's Dance Department for 24 years and has choreographed for the Kalamazoo Civic Summer Youth Theatre, Kalamazoo Civic Mainstage, Farmers Alley Theatre, Kindleberger Summer Arts Festival, Kalamazoo Central High School, Loy Norrix High School, Portage Central High School, Portage Northern High School, and West Middle school. She has also worked with the EFA program, was an Artist in Residence for the Washington Writer's Academy, and often works with the Kalamazoo Childrens Chorus. Kathryn has served as a dance and art instructor for The Gilmore Piano Camp Program at Sherman Lake, and as a choreographer and instructor for the United Teens Talent Show. Kathryn received a great deal of recognition in 2011, for her years of contribution as an artist and instructor. In February of that year she was honored by WMU Partners in Dance with the Community Dance Advocacy Award and in September, she received the prestigious Community Medal of Arts from the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo. In 2012 Encore Magazine presented Kathryn with the Wilde Award for Best Choreography of a Musical for her work on Urinetown at Farmers Alley Theatre.
