Stephen is a SAG Award-nominated actor best known as Thor Lundgren for seven seasons on the Emmy-winning Showtime series Nurse Jackie starring Edie Falco. He returns to the Civic after appearing with Edie Falco in the special benefit production of Love Letters in February. Kalamazoo audiences also saw him as Max Bialystock in The Producers at Farmers Alley Theatre co-starring real-life partner and Civic Artistic Director Tony Humrichouser. This past Christmas he starred as Buddy the Elf in Elf the Musical at Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts. Other TV appearances include Horace and Pete, Hulu's Difficult People and HBO's Divorce. East Coast Stage: Pipe Dream (Encores!) Craig Carnelia s world premiere Poster Boy (Williamstown Theater Festival)The Nerd (George Street Playhouse) and teaming with Edie Falco for a sold-out run of the original cabaret The Other Steve and Edie at the Laurie Beechman Theater. The Muny: Shrek the Musical (Shrek), Seussical (Horton the Elephant) and The Wizard of Oz (Cowardly Lion). National tours: Forever Plaid, Into the Woods,and Scrooge starring Richard Chamberlain. He portrayed Judas/Padre in Court Theatre's acclaimed production of Man of La Mancha (Joseph Jefferson Award, After Dark Award) and reprised his performance at Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven. He became a staple at the Ravinia Festival, appearing with Patti LuPone, Audra McDonald and Michael Cerveris in A Little Night Music, Passion, and Sunday in the Park with George. Stephen accrued 2500 performances as both Jinx and Sparky in various companies of Forever Plaid including Chicago (Royal George Cabaret), Las Vegas, (Flamingo Hilton and Gold Coast Hotel), Denver Center for Performing Arts, Drury Lane Oakbrook, and the first national tour. He will make his Plaid directorial debut in May 2019 at New River Valley Regional Theatre in Virginia.
