The Kalamazoo Civic Theatre seeks a Sound Design Intern for 2020-2021 season, with the possibility to cross train in Lighting Design. Under the supervision of the Resident Lighting/Sound Designer Sound Interns have the opportunity to build skills and expand professional portfolios while working in collaboration with a variety of theatre professionals. Interns will actualize sound designs as well as assist with lighting, sound and SFX installations and maintenance for a 15 show season produced in three venues including a traditional proscenium stage and two flexible seating spaces. Equipment/Software includes: Yamaha QL5, Shure Wireless Microphones, QLab, Logic Pro X, and VectorWorks. Preferred applicants will have: strong communication skills, good work ethic; a basic understanding of audio signal flow; a general knowledge of electricity and some design experience. Interns receive $210 per week including housing. Health insurance is available. Twelve month contract begins June 2020, with a possible second year extension.
