Kathy Mulay's Bio : The Kalamazoo Civic Theatre

Kathy Mulay



Kathy is directing her 43rd production for the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre. She has been honored with the Community Medal of Arts Award for her many years of theatrical direction in numerous theatres in the community. Most of her career has been dedicated to educating young theatrical artists as Managing Director of the Civic Summer Theatre for eighteen summers as well as teaching and directing students at Loy Norrix and Portage Central High Schools. She has prided herself on challenging those young artists with area premieres of The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Ragtime, Blood Brothers, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Hairspray. She and her students at Portage Central have been honored three times by being chosen to perform at the International Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. Vice President of the board at Farmers Alley Theatre, Kathy has directed their critically acclaimed productions of Blood Brothers, The Light in the Piazza, Next to Normal, Parade and Jane Eyre.
