Biography

Michael is a 2002 graduate of Western Michigan University's Department of Theatre, completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Performance. Since moving to Kalamazoo in 1997, Michael has performed in over 70 local theatre productions (including his Kalamazoo Civic debut in The Compleat Wrks of Wllm Shkspr Abridged 18 years ago), several independent films, area television commercials, and the Silverleaf Renaissance Faire's Pit Players Mud Show. He recently starred as Patsy in the Farmers Alley Theatre production of Spamalot, for which he won the 2016 Farmie Award for Best Supporting Actor. He has served as director at several area theatres such as The New Vic Theatre where he recently directed Romeo & Juliet and served as writer, director, and actor for his new work, Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea: A Play Set to Sea Shanties. For the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre, Michael previously directed And Then There Were None and The Pirates of Penzance: In Concert. Memorable Kalamazoo Civic performances include: Lord Farquaad in Shrek: The Musical, Sherlock Holmes in Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure, The Fool in King Lear, and Puck in Shakespeare in Hollywood. When not playing in one of Kalamazoo's celebrated theatres, Michael serves as the Member Engagement Manager of the Air Zoo, a world-class aviation and aerospace experience.
