The Kalamazoo Civic Theatre seeks a Lighting Design Intern for 2020-2021 season, with the possibility to cross train in Sound Design. Under the supervision of the Resident Lighting/Sound Designer, Lighting Interns have the opportunity to build skills and expand professional portfolios while working in collaboration with a variety of theatre professionals. Interns will actualize lighting designs as well as assist with lighting, sound and SFX installations and maintenance for a 15 show season produced in three venues including a traditional proscenium stage and two flexible seating spaces. Equipment/Software includes: ETC GIO, ION and Nomad, QLab, Full Stage Digital Cyc, LED color changing par cans, Vectorworks and Lightwright. Preferred applicants will have: strong communication skills, good work ethic; a general knowledge of electricity; a basic understanding of audio signal flow and some design experience. Interns receive $210 per week including housing. Health insurance is available. Twelve month contract begins June 2020, with a possible second year extension. Submit cover letter referencing job
