Biography

Cindy is pleased to be returning to the Civic Theatre, where she has served as Musical Director for productions of Sister Act, Les Miserables, Ragtime, Jekyll and Hyde, A Chorus Line, The Drowsy Chaperone, Shrek, Peter Pan, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and Anne of Green Gables. She has also served as Music Director and played keyboard in the orchestra at the Barn Theatre, (West Side Story), Farmers Alley Theatre, (Cabaret), and the Kindleberger Festival (High School Musical). Cindy holds a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from Western Michigan University and is in her 20th year as Director of Choirs at Portage Central High School and Middle School where she directs 6 choirs daily. She is also the Music Director for the annual musical at Portage Central High School, including productions of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Phantom of the Opera, Hairspray, Tommy, Les Miserables, Into the Woods, Ragtime, and Miss Saigon among others. She directed Honk Jr. at Portage Central Middle School, and was the Music Director for Addams Family Jr. Cindy is the Director of Music at Kalamazoo First Presbyterian Church, where she directs the Adult Choir and two handbell choirs, and plays piano for the Saturday evening service, SEEDS. She has served as Guest Conductor for the Kalamazoo Singers, served as a board member for Bach Festival of Kalamazoo, and is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, and the Michigan School Vocal Music Association. Cindy is a proud union member of the National Education Association, Michigan Education Association and Portage Education Association.
