Biography

Michael is a graduate of the Central Michigan University Theatre program ('75) where he worked with Jeff Daniels and Terry O'Quinn. He did Summer Stock theatre in 1975 at Millbrook Playhouse in Mill Hall, PA and began his Civic career in 1979 with The Royal Family. Some of Michael's favorite credits include Escanaba in Da Moonlight(Kalamazoo Civic, Barn Theatre, Farmers Alley); Superior Donuts, Escanaba in Love, A Man of No Importance & 1776 (Farmers Alley Theatre); Fools, The Foursome, My Fair Lady (Kalamazoo Civic); The Fantasticks (Civic, Mt. Pleasant, Millbrook Playhouse, Portage Celery Flats). He has also voiced well over 120 characters and directed several radio recreations in 18 seasons with All Ears Theatre, and continues to work on earning his Actors Equity card with Farmers Alley Theatre. Michael is a retired educator of over 40 years and the Past President of the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo. He has been married for 38 years to Sue Bensinger and has two daughters. He dedicates his work to his wife and his mentor and his two best friends, Jim Carver and Ron Centers.
