Good Morning Baltimore! It's 1962 and change is in the air. Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart has only one passion: to dance. When she wins a spot on the local TV dance program, "The Corny Collins Show," she is transformed overnight from outsider to irrepressible teen celebrity. But can a trendsetter in dance and fashion vanquish the program's reigning princess, win the heart of heartthrob Link Larkin, and integrate a television show without denting her "do"? The winner of eight Tony Awards, Hairspray is piled bouffant high with laughter, romance, and deliriously tuneful songs.
"as sweet as a show can be without promoting tooth decay...."

While the musical is a joyful and energetic romp, Hairspray does directly deal with issue of racism, and the humor in the show may contain occasional double entendres. The indomitable and charming Tracy Turnblad is a larger than life teenager who challenges racism and proves that you can do anything as long as you try your hardest and believe in yourself. Prepared youth should be able to handle mature elements and will be delighted by the music, spectacle and heartwarming story of Tracy's journey.
