The world of theatre offers older students limitless possibilities! It is a world wherein participants can explore their ideas, work collaboratively and try new things! Programming for this group focuses on creative engagement, artistic exploration and self-expression. Students are encouraged to be active in setting goals and meeting challenges for class each week.
Mystery Theatre: Tuesdays 4:30-6:00
January 11 - March 15; Class Fee: $180
Mystery, Clues and More! Learners will get to exercise their acting skills through mystery games, improvisation and character-building activities. Using a variety of Whodunit scripts, participants will learn to use context clues to build a character that supports the story while being unique to the actor.
Combined Grades: 3rd - 8th Grade will be subdivided by age groups for projects.
Disney Broadway: Saturdays 9:30-11:30
January 15 - March 19; Class fee: $240
Using scripts and music from Disney Broadway musicals, students will sing, act and dance their way through Saturday mornings. Participants will spend 40 minutes working in each performance area. On the final day of the series, families will be invited to view an informal showcase of skills learned.
Stage Combat - Lightsabers: Saturdays 11:45-1:15
February 19 - March 19; Class Fee: $115
Steven Schwall, Certified Teacher of Stage Combat, will light up our classrooms with lightsabers as he works students though the fundamentals of stage combat covering skills such as partnering, maintaining safe distance, handling mechanics, footwork and proper targeting. In addition to learning the technical skills, Steven's classes focus on the importance of adding stylistic elements unique to the weapon style, using the body as a sound tool to increase realism and making strong character choices to help create urgency in battle while maintaining control and safety.
