READER'S THEATRE/COLD READING TECHNIQUES

Let's face it; acting is much more than just memorizing lines. This class will provide an innovative communication tool that supports the actor's ability to connect organically with their scene partner and takes away the pressure and obstacle of memorizing lines. This reading technique supports true communication between actors and will provide the technical skills of how to map out when an actor stays on the page reading and when they come off. It allows the actor to do their work and play the scene without losing the connection to the other actors. This is an excellent way to prepare for a cold reading audition situation and especially for August: Osage County auditions early February!

Date: Thursdays, October 3 - November 7
Time: 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Requirements: Ages 16+
Class Fee:$85

SCENE STUDY WORKOUT WITH STEVE CARVER

This is a process class for the intermediate to experienced actor. Students will look at scene study focusing on character values, relationships, imagery, needs/wants, and intentions. You will learn to always work in the moment-to-moment specificity that is dictated by the scene. This is a workout for the actor who possesses a basic understanding of the craft and wants to grow their skills. Participants will work with partners on different scenes each week. By the end of this workshop students will have developed valuable rehearsal skills, be able to identify character values, core action and spine of a scene and be able to translate this into individual character work. Find the joy of discovery in getting specific in your work!
