
Our class series, Getting Technical, is taught by our resident staff of professional designers and craftsmen. Each class is designed to provide stagecraft skills and knowledge of safety procedures, giving participants a hands-on experience in some of the many ways to participate in theatre "behind the scenes."
Getting Technical: Make and Take - Flat Building and Painting with Stacy Bartell
Dates: July 14, 21, & 28, 6:00 - 8:00pm
Cost: $75
Ages: 12+ (Younger students may co-enroll with an adult)
Join Properties Master, Stacy Bartell, for this hands-on introduction to basic carpentry skills and paint techniques. Participants will use standard theatre construction methods to build and paint a miniature Broadway flat. Tools used will include screw gun, drill press, chop saw, orbital sander, and pneumatic stapler. Participants may choose their own paint design or learn a marble paint technique.
Getting Technical: Make and Take - Audrey II with Stacy Bartell
Dates: August 3 & 4, 6:00 - 8:00pm
Cost: $75
Ages: 12+ (younger students may co-enroll with an adult)
Build your very own Audrey II Puppet! Participants will work with plastics, foams, and paint to create this infamous theatre prop of their very own. Just remember: please don't feed the plant!
Getting Technical: Make and Take - Sock Puppets with Stacy Bartell & AnnMarie Miller
Date: August 17, 6:00 - 7:30pm
Cost: $15 per family
A fun summer evening activity for the whole family! Participants will explore the design process from concept through construction in one evening while having fun with socks, glitter, poms, yarn, ribbon, and more. The evening concludes with the opportunity to bring art to life as the participants create a voice for their puppet and introduce them to the class.
