Patrick Coyle's Bio : The Kalamazoo Civic Theatre

Patrick Coyle



Patrick is a native of South Carolina, and comes to the Civic by way of Cincinnati. He received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music, and also holds degrees from Furman University, Converse College and Emery University. His love of theater began as a performer in musicals and opera, in South Pacific, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, HMS Pinafore and Verdi's Rigoletto, among many others. Eventually, he jumped into the orchestra pit, landed on the podium, and has been active as a conductor, vocal coach, music director and keyboardist. He has been Artistic Director of Cincinnati Men's Chorus, Contract Associate Conductor of Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, and conductor / music director of opera and theater productions in Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and South Carolina. Here in Michigan, Dr. Coyle has worked as Music Director for Western Michigan University's Musical Theater Performance program and Mason Street Warehouse Theater in Saugatuck, MI. At MSW, his productions include The Full Monty, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Marvelous Wonderettes, Chicago, Xanadu, Five Guys Named Moe and Closer Than Ever. Dr. Coyle has served as Musical Director for our productions of Nuncrackers, Legally Blonde, the Musical, All Shook Up and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. He is recently relocated from Cincinnati to Saugatuck where he and Greg live with their two Labrador Retrievers, Harley and Toby.
