Special Event: tuesdays with Morrie
Since its beginnings in 1929, the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre has been a cornerstone in the arts community of Kalamazoo. For our 94th Season we are excited to present 12 productions between September 2022 and May 2023 including a very special Penguin Project production of The Rainbow Fish Musical. If you enjoy big, splashy musicals, outrageous comedies or thought-provoking dramas - there is something for everyone this season at the Civic.

September 16 - October 2, 2022
Seize the Day! Audiences of all ages will love our 94th Season Opener - Disney's Newsies, based upon the Disney film. Newsies is a story told through eyes of youth at the world we're inheriting and dares to dream about the one we'll create.
October 7 - October 16, 2022
Senior Class Reader's Theatre will honor the late musical genius, Stephen Sondheim with Side by Side by Sondheim. The evening will take us through a witty and heartfelt journey of Sondheim's prolific musical theatre songbook.
October 21 - October 30, 2022
Pride and Prejudice is a new adaptation of the Jane Austen novel by Kate Hamill. Follow the Bennet sisters as they navigate British Society in the decadent Regency Period and her delightful portrayals of provincial everyday life. If you like Bridgerton - you will adore this new adaptation of the Austen's masterpiece.
November 11 - November 20, 2022
Our Civic Youth Theatre presents, Puffs, or the Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic, a hilarious and jovial nod to a certain boy who went to a certain wizard school.
December 2 - December 18, 2022
With the holiday comes the classic Meet Me in St. Louis, celebrating family, community and the Louisiana Purchase Exposition. With all the music and the magic of the film, Meet Me in St. Louis will be the perfect family show to kick of the season.
January 13 - January 29, 2023
Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun follows the story of a Black family on the South Side of Chicago. Based on the famous Langston Hughes poem, the play asks the crucial question "What happens to A Dream Deferred?"
January 27 - February 5, 2023
Clybourne Park by Bruce Norris is the modern counterpart to Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun. This play picks up twenty years later and provides a current look into race and discriminatory housing.
February 10 - February 19, 2023
We have the perfect Valentine's date for you - with a contemporary rock score, First Date pokes fun at the mishaps and mistakes of blind dates and gives hope that there could be that one perfect moment.
March 3 - March 12, 2023
The entire family will enjoy the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre's Penguin Project production of The Rainbow Fish Musical. This stage adaptation of Marcus Pfister's colorful stories takes you on a deep-sea adventure packed with striking effects and mesmerizing music and leaves you with the powerful message of what it means to share your most prized possession.
March 17 - March 26, 2023
Usher in spring with our Senior Class Reader's Theatre production of Morning's At Seven, a hilarious and deeply touching look at life, middle age, and that feeling of running out of time. Based upon local Kalamazoo people, this will have you laughing and perhaps even shedding a few tears as you have a front row seat to witness the inner workings of an American family.
April 21 - April 30, 2023
We've all been there... trying to fit into a world that seems so different from our own. Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical (presented by our Civic Youth Theatre) reminds audiences of all ages that our individual differences make us awesome, not outcasts.
May 5 - May 21, 2023
With a sweeping score and powerful storyline, we will close our 94th Season with The Hunchback of Notre Dame, based on the Victor Hugo novel and songs from the Disney film, tells the epic story of love, acceptance and what it means to be a hero.
