Productions
Since its beginnings in 1929, the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre has been a cornerstone in the arts community of Kalamazoo. For our 90th Season we are excited to present fifteen productions between September 2018 and May 2019. Seven of those productions are Southwest Michigan premieres! Now 80 years old, André was once a tap dancer. He lives with his daughter, Anne, and her husband, Antoine. Or was André an engineer, whose daughter Anne lives in London with her new lover, Pierre? Then Anne, a scheming woman who worries too much, tries to take his flat away...

February 14 - February 15
Television and Broadway veterans Edie Falco and Stephen Wallem will entertain Kalamazoo audiences in a very special production of A.R. Gurney's play, 'Love Letters' on the Civic Auditorium stage. 'Love Letters' is the story of a 50-year correspondence between Melissa Gardner and her childhood-friend-turned-love-interest, Andrew Makepeace Ladd III....

February 22 - March 10
Currently enjoying a "ravishing revival" on Broadway at the intimate Circle in the Square Theatre 'Once On This Island' is the captivating legend of romance. Ti Moune, a peasant girl, rescues a wealthy boy, Daniel, from the other side of the island and falls in love with him....

Alex the Lion is the king of the urban jungle and the main attraction at New York's Central Park Zoo. March 22 - March 31
The Civic presents the area premiere of a new comedy about the tenacity of two elderly women and the dangerous game of one-upmanship they play. A sunny room on an upper floor is prime real estate in the Briston Place Senior Living Facility. Abby has always had a quiet room to herself on an upper floor....

April 5 - April 14
'Psycho Beach Party' is a manic party-mix of 50's psychological thrillers, 60's beach movies, and 70's slasher films in this over the top dark comedy! The story focuses on Chicklet Forrest, a sixteen-year old tomboy who's desperate to be part of the in-crowd of Malibu beach surfers in 1962....

April 19 - April 28
The Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy is the story of a perfect gentleman, Elwood P. Dowd, and his best friend, Harvey - a six-foot tall, invisible rabbit. When Elwood begins introducing Harvey around town, his embarrassed sister, Veta Louise, and her daughter, Myrtle Mae, decide to commit Elwood to a

May 3 - May 19
A Southwest Michigan premieére - 'War Paint' just closed on Broadway in November 2017. The Civic is thrilled to be one of the first theatres in the country to produce this new and exciting musical! In 1935 Manhattan, society women fret over beauty ideals imposed on them by an unforgiving culture. And center to it all are the empires of Elizabeth Arden and Helena Rubenstein....

May 17 - May 25
On the outskirts of town stands a ramshackle house. It might not seem like much 'til you peek through the railings....then you'll find that there's a horse on the porch, a monkey in the kitchen and a freckle faced, red-pigtailed, whirlwind of a girl in mismatched stockings presiding over it all....
