The Kalamazoo Civic Auditorium was built in 1931. Its historic charm and character have been preserved while its mechanical and theatrical systems (rigging, lighting, sound, etc.) have been updated. This combination makes for a beautifully appointed, state-of-the-art facility that truly is the gem of our community.
The interior of the Civic Auditorium is designed in a circus motif, not unlike other theatres built in the early 1930’s.
Our stage is fully equipped with 40 single purchase fly lines, 5 electrics linesets with raceway circuits, and a fully functional ETC lighting system complete with DMX distribution. Our stage is fully trapped, with the ability to cut tracks in the stage floor for tracking scenery.
The Civic Auditorium also houses our properties storage, props shop, wardrobe department, and the lighting and sound department.
